Anthony Doheny was born in Waterford Ireland on the 20th April 1963. He began to learn music in 1975 and played guitar in a local folk choir. He commenced writing immediately and started to submit his songs to national and international songcontests.

His first professional recording was with the song  'Dreaming of You'. His first radio play was in 1988 with the wonderful ballad ‘The Blasket Islands,’ a song written about the changing fortunes of the Islanders and how they had to leave their homes.  This song is still popular with the Kerry population and the many visitors to our shores.

His early influences arrived from singer/songwriter styles mainly;  John Denver, James Taylor and Waterford's own Gilbert O’Sullivan.

Since his first introduction to music Anthony has continued to compose and record original material, some of which have been associated with his native city Waterford in Ireland: ‘The Men In White & Blue’ and ‘The Tall Ships.’

Anthony's latest album 'A Lost Renaisance' was released in 2008 and has received rave reviews both in Ireland and Stateside.  It has been hailed as an explosion of originality where the colourful lyrics create the images expressed in exciting arrangements. This album was produced by David Hayes. The album cuts through to the bone of some social issues with the thought provoking 'Lost it All' (which was the most requested song on WLR FM), to the heartbreak in Overboard (a story of despair), to the materialistic 'Green Fields'. A Lost Renaissance uses colourful themes that are originally crafted, exhilarating in the chorus and tend to drive emotions home.

Anthony's first album 'A Way With Words' was recorded in TreeFrog Productions, Maine, USA and in Carton Studios in New Hamshire, USA. The producer of this album was Sean Carton of Carton Studios.

Anthony's latest release is the festive song 'An Irish Christmas'. This song is a statement of gratitude for what we have and looks at the enjoyment of comforts at Christmas time, like home, children and health. It also bears a thought for the poor, and for the people who are missing someone at this time of year. This song will be available for iTunes download from the 12th December.
